ABOUT

South Cow Mountain Recreation Area is approximately 23,000 acres managed by the Bureau of Land Management in Lake and Mendocino Counties. The Recreation Area is popular for Off Highway Vehicles and there are several primitive campsites. Check with BLM during the winter to see if the Recreation Area is open.

This trail is designed primarily for OHV use, so we advise hikers, bikers, and equestrians to proceed with caution. The trail also features a unique OHV obstacle course that challenges drivers of all skill levels, plus remote campsites that offer a peaceful escape, if you’re up for the trek to reach them. Whether you’re looking to test your rig or unwind in nature, this trail delivers a true off-road experience.
